Keep an eye out for regulars visitors (wild life) to the local area, many observed from the windows at Garadh Buidhe – deer, pine martens, otters, highland cattle, lambs, sea eagles from the Isle of Mull (as seen on ‘Spring Watch’ and ‘Autumn Watch’), buzzards, pheasants, many species of garden and sea birds (including the greater spotted woodpecker, kingfishers and migrating sand martins nesting in the banks of the river). Golden eagles can often be seen soaring high up in the sky.

You will never be short of things to do whether you want to relax and enjoy the scenery close to the house or travel further a field. There is always plenty of scope to visit somewhere different each day.

From the house you could take a casual walk through the beautifully featured woodland or by the River Lochy, with some of the best salmon and trout fishing in Britain, easily accessible via our garden footpath.

Explore the area on bicycle or on foot.  There are an endless number of walks to suit the casual rambler or the more serious hill walkers. The Great Glen Way is just on our doorstep with pick up available from Gairlochy or Fort William by arrangement. www.greatglenway.com  For the more adventurous walkers and climbers experience the challenge of the numerous Munros, Corbetts and Grahams, including Britain’s highest peak Ben Nevis. www.walkhighlands.co.uk

Visit the Nevis Range at Aonach Mor with the only mountain gondola in Britain, rising to 2,050 feet, open throughout the year, for skiing and snowboarding in the winter months and for the challenging world famous mountain bicycle track during the summer months. www.nevisrange.co.uk

Re-live the Harry Potter experience on the Jacobite Steam train, travelling from Fort William following the Road to the Isles (A830) across the famous 21 arch Glenfinnan viaduct, on the way to Mallaig a beautiful fishing village and ferry terminal with stunning views across to the Isles of Skye, Rum, Eigg, Muck and Canna. En-route pass the silvery beaches at Morar as seen in the films ‘Highlander’ and ‘Local Hero’. www.westcoastrailway.co.uk

Close by in the Lochaber area you could also visit some of the other attractions such as the Ben Nevis Distillery, The Treasures of the Earth, The Ice Factor, go-karting, golfing, fishing, sailing, boat trips, cycling, ten pin bowling and many many more activities that help to make the Fort William area the 'outdoor capital of the UK'.

We will be happy to advise you of the many restaurants and eating out places in the Lochaber area and help you to plan your itinerary should you require it.

We look forward to seeing you soon whenever you choose to visit.
